This is how it works:

You fill out the form

, indicating in as much detail as possible what information or material you would like to receive

When we have received your request, we check to see whether it can be fulfilled (i.e. whether the information you need can be provided or whether the material you want exists in one of the Russian archives). This usually takes 5-7 days. Then we send you a reply indicating how long it will take to fulfill your request and the exact attendant cost

You pay

for the initial archival search

We send you information on photocopying, translation, express mail and any other incidental expenses we may have incurred

You pay

these costs

After receipt of confirmation of payment we send you the material you have requested

Half of the funds paid by you after the initial search is returned to you if the results of our search turn up empty, that is if the material you requested does not exist in Russian archives or if it is contained in collections to which access is still classified. In such a case we will provide you with official certificates from all pertinent archives searched attesting to the fact that no information is available related to your request

Remember that before making your request, you should decide in what format you would like to receive material from us (plain text, TIFF or JPEG electronic format or hard copy) and how you would like the material sent (e-mail, DHL, regular mail or fax).
